The Performance Lab is an elite private sports performance facility in the San Diego area serving youth, collegiate, and professional athletes with a holistic, mechanics-first approach. From NFL Combine/Pro Day prep to return-to-sport and long-term athletic development, our coaches collaborate to deliver real and repeatable results without the ego.
We're looking for a driven coach who loves being part of a tight, collaborative team and also has the entrepreneurial spirit to build their own book of business.
What You'll Do
- Coach athletes across the competitive spectrum in strength, speed, power, change of direction, and return-to-sport progressions.
- Collaborate with fellow Performance Lab coaches to align programming and progressions (shared language, clear intent, zero turf wars).
- Build and manage your client roster: outreach, consultations, assessments, scheduling, and retention.
- Contribute to the Performance Lab culture: professional, curious, humble, and athlete-first.
- Create small-group offerings, clinics, and/or remote programs — The Performance Lab supports coaches who build smart, ethical businesses.

Minimum Qualifications
- 2+ years of hands-on coaching experience in S&C or sports performance (private facility, high school, college, or pro setting preferred).
- Current CPR/AED; nationally recognized certification (e.g., CSCS, SCCC, USAW, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Ability to assess movement and program intelligently for diverse athlete and general population clients.
- Clear, professional communication with athletes, parents, teams, and coaches.

Performance Lab Internships
Hands-on experience in sports performance within a professional, athlete-first environment. Ideal for students or recent grads building real-world coaching experience. Unpaid (college credit available); seasonal start dates.

The Performance Lab offers the opportunity to learn under the best coaches in the industry. The Performance Lab will give you the opportunity to experience hands-on, individualized coaching with 1-on-1 training sessions and group/team sessions.
Every intern will have the chance to become more familiar with program design and implementation of exercises and movement drills. Interns will also have the chance to observe and assist a variety of professional athletes under the supervision of our qualified coaches. Interns will be able to participate in any seminars/mentorships held at our facility during their time here with us.
Our internships are scheduled according to academic semesters, and are unpaid. Interns must fulfill the hours required by their school for credit completion.
Internship Application Deadlines
